Bobtail Capillary
And Tubing
Unit
BobCAT
Wellhead Control Products, Inc. is proud
to present the BobCat. The BobCat's unique
design represents the future of the capillary service industry.
It is a compact unit with the capability to perform both
capillary and coiled tubing services. Benefits to the user
are ease of mobilization, user-friendly two-man operation,
and quick coil to capillary conversion. The BobCATsystem
utilizes a 10K injector complete with a snubbing kit specifically
designed for safe and effective snubbing in live, high-pressure
wells.
Oil and gas operators, the EPA, and other safety conscious
groups are increasingly scrutinizing current capillary practices.
Capillary operations will soon be required to follow all
of the same safety guidelines as the larger coil tubing
installers. The BobCat unit is already prepared for
these inevitable changes.

BobCAT
Specifications
The BobCAT's platform is a tandem axle 8500 series Chevrolet
truck. The custom ordered vehicle can be equipped with a
wide variety of options. Under the hood is a 250-hp, 800-lbs.ft.
Caterpillar engine powering 6 hydraulic pumps on three separate
PTO's. The multiple pump and drive system provides alternative
plumbing options in the event of pump or PTO failure, minimizing
the chance of downtime. The engine is also equipped with
a high idle control box, constantly monitoring all aspects
of the motor, and will automatically perform a safety shutdown.
A retractable control console and operators platform sits
high behind the cab, providing a good view of all the equipment.
The panels are made from stainless steel, and contain only
top quality valves and liquid filled stainless gauges. Work
lights are included for night operations.
The BobCAT carries two tubing reels. The first reel has
a larger core for handeling coiled tubing, and the second
one is for capillary. Both reels feature a hydraulically
actuated levelwind, a 5000-psi. rotating joint, and a highly
accurate direct-drive tubing counter.
On the rear of the truck is WCP's 10K injector head. It
utilizes roller skates and flat back chains. A set of downward-forcing
chain-tension cylinders and a 10,000 psi pack-off allows
for snubbing capillary into a live well. The two motors
can continuously pull 10,000 lbs,. and can run over 200ft.
per minute.
The BobCAT uses a fully proportional, 8,000 lbs. hydraulic
crane. It has a powered boom that extends from 12' to 18'
and an extra 7' manual pullout. The crane is mounted high
on a pedestal, located at the right rear comer, increasing
boom height over 30'. Out-and-down stabilizers are mounted
near the rear of the truck to loads.
Underbody toolboxes on both sides provide dry storage for
tools and other parts. A hose rack near the rear neatly
organizes all of the hose bundles. A B.O.P. rack is mounted
on the rear, along with some additional storage space for
auxiliary equipment such as hangers and intervention spools.
*Optional Equipment
The unit is shown with WCP's SS125KH
chemical injection system. A hydraulically driven triplex
pump moves 12-gpm. at 5000-psi. To resist corrosion, the
pump is constructed with stainless steel internal parts
and composite seals.

tank for chemical storage and transportation.
